Anthony Davis headed to the Lakers in mega deal

Article by Antwon “Smitty” Smith

The Lakers finally got their man as Anthony Davis packs up and heads out to the west coast to Los Angeles. It cost the Lakers three players and three 1st round picks. The asking price was huge but the return value with Davis may put the Lakers back in the playoffs after a six year hiatus.

Davis has been tied to trade talk for the last year and he finally gets his wish after spending his first 7 seasons in New Orleans. The Pelicans put Davis on the trade block at the trade deadline but their were no offers to blow them away. Davis was nearly traded to the Lakers but talks broke down at the end of the deadline.

Now that the mega deal is complete, Lebron James finally gets the superstar big man he’s longed for his entire career. Los Angeles sent Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and three 1st round picks (including the #4 overall pick in 2019) to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis.

The Lakers have switched gears and seem to be in a win-now mode after the Golden State Warriors loss in the Finals, it seems the Western Conference will be wide open once again. Los Angeles gets Davis in his prime at 26 years old almost ensures them that he will be the face of the franchise once Lebron calls it a career.

Los Angeles has room for one more max deal, but who will they bring in to complete their Big 3? This story is a long way from being over, stay tuned!
